Carpe diem et noctem!

Blog Action Day is an annual event held every October 15 that unites the world’s bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day with the aim of sparking discussion around an issue of global importance. Blog Action Day 2009 will be one of the largest-ever social change events on the web.

Climate change may be a global issue, but real change starts with the individual. The Deep Blue posted several tips:

1. Walk, cycle, take public transport – you do not need to drive everywhere. It will save you money, reduce emissions, and give you some exercise.
2. Save the trees – reuse scrap paper, cut down on unnecessary printing.
3. Do more with less – think twice before buying something. Do you really need it? How much packaging is involved?
4. When grocery shopping, bring your own reusable bags from home.
5. Eating – less meat, more vegetables. Buy locally and seasonally. Go for unpackaged foods.
6. Reduce energy usage. Unplug whatever you’re not using. For example: turn of the A/C. Go for a swim to cool down.
7. Take shorter showers, take a reusable water container, drink tap instead of bottled water.
8. Spread the word!

Sicherlich zeigt das Video keine Neuigkeiten, zeigt dennoch einige interesante Zusammenhänge und zumindest ist ein gut gemachter Denkanstoss. Allerdings muss auch gesagt werden, dass auch wenn das Video den Hauptschuldigen bei der CDU sieht, die SPD nicht ganz unschuldig ist. Immerhin hätte sie den Antrag stoppen können.

Schon schockierend, was der “mächtigste Mann der Welt” während seiner Amtszeit so von sich gegeben hat:
